Established
in 1990, Shanghai Country Club, the first full-scale
international membership club developed in Shanghai
with the total land occupation of 1,030,000M2, is
located about 30 minutes drive from downtown Shanghai
in the beautiful scenery of the Dian Shan Lake.
Designed
by world renowned golf architect Robert Trent
Jones Jr. from the United States, the course of
par 72 and 7,025 yards in length has attracted
many return games of golf by its exciting water
hazards, bunkers of cosmetic touches, numerous
lakes and competitive fairways. Golf experts have
also praised it as one of the most challenging
golf courses.
With the emphasis
on creating a relaxed atmosphere, the clubhouse
of the 19th century British colonial style designed
by P&T Architects and Engineers Ltd. offers
full facilities as fully stocked pro-shop, coffee
bar, restaurant, reading room, billiards and sauna.
The three tennis courts and the second clubhouse
equipped with accommodation, in door swimming
pool, dinning room and mahjong room provides recreational
sites for members' families. Besides, Shanghai
Country Club also provides a 3-hole practice course,
a spacious driving range and putting green. The
resident golf professional is on hand to give
golf lessons to beginners and refresher courses
to the more experienced golfers.
The golf competitions
organized by the club as the "Monthly Cup",
"Opening Anniversary Cup" and "President
Cup" have offered right opportunities for
the members to meet friends, consult skills in
golf, nurture affections and build up health as
well. The development of the Old Zhu Jia Jiao
Town, one of most famous tourist attractions in
Shanghai, the establishment of the Oriental Green
Boat, the large camp site for teenagers, and the
completion of the Hu Qing Ping expressway, would
offer convenient transportation and add much to
the enjoyable circumstances for members and guests.
The club provides round trip transportation from
downtown to the club.
