¡¡Located in the middle of the Park, it is adjacent to Commemorative Tree-planting Garden. Tufty bamboos stretch like many green umbrellas, encloses depressed areas lower in the center and higher around. The total area amounts to over 4000 m2. Stone stools are placed under the bamboos. When you sit on the stone stool, the cool winds blow gently and you will feel cheerful, refreshing and free from restraint. The bamboo pathway leads to the quiet and secluded world. If you walk along the pathway, you will feel as if you were in a land depicted in poems. ¡°When the quiet and secluded bamboo forest becomes green, the birds sing cheerfully¡±. Bamboos have been a favor of the Chinese literati. Bamboo, plum blossom, orchid and chrysanthemum are called four plants of honor. The literati have been used to expressing their good tastes by means of the pure and lofty bamboos. The Eight Queer Literati of Yangzhou were especially fond of bamboos. For Example, Jin Nong acknowledged bamboos as his tutor. He lingered around the bamboo forest and observed the bamboos to the details during the day. In the evening, he sat before the window to watch the bamboo shadows on the window, and even listened attentively to the bamboos whistles when he was lying in bed. What¡¯s more, when he fell ill, he was reluctant to move into the inner chamber because it was unable to listen to the bamboo whistle inside. The saying ¡°To live only on vegetables rather than to live without bamboos ¡± is an exact depiction of him.
