Interpretation and Translation Service
Shanghai Interpreters’ Association (SIA) is designated by the Shanghai Municipal Economic and Trade Commission, the Shanghai Higher People’s Court, the Shanghai Intermediate People’s Court and the Exit-and-Entry Administration of the Shanghai Municipal Public Bureau and other institutions as a provider of translation for documents such as business contracts, instruments and certificates, product brochures and technical materials as well as legal documents, It also provides interpretation services, simultaneous and consecutive, to international conferences, business talks, visits and tours.
SIA has taken an active part in providing interpretation and translation services for important international events held in Shanghai, including Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings, Shanghai Cooperation Organization meetings, Shanghai's bidding for the World Exposition in 2010, Asian Development Bank (ADB) annual meeting, China Shanghai International Arts Festival, Global Poverty Reduction Conference and Forbes Global CEO Conference.
Academic Activities
SIA has English, Japanese and Russian language academic groups, which organize lectures and seminars from time to time. Also, it actively participates in national and regional symposiums on interpretation and translation, conducts research on and discussions about the theories, skills and practice in interpretation and translation. SIA’s main publications include Interpreters’ Friend and Newsletters.
Talks on Current Events
SIA invites specialists to give talks on current events so as to help its members gain a better understanding of current events in the political, economic, cultural and other fields at home and abroad.
Visits and tours
SIA organizes visits and tours for its members on non-regular basis so as to enable them to keep abreast with the situation about the economic construction and social development in Shanghai. |
