On the afternoon of December 22, 2007, Shanghai held a grand meeting to sum up the volunteer service work for Shanghai Special Olympics. At the meeting, outstanding volunteers and outstanding volunteer organizers for Special Olympics were commended. Shanghai Interpreters' Association was commended as an outstanding volunteer organizer. SIA attached great importance to working for Shanghai Special Olympic Games. From August, 2007, SIA provided translation service for Huangpu, Jiading, Jinshan, Baoshan and Hongkou districts as well as for Longhua Community in Xuhui district.

    During the Special Olympic Games, SIA sent over 60 interpreters covering 10 foreign languages for Huangpu, Jiading and Jinshan districts and Longhua Community in Xuhui district. Showing great care and love for Special Olympic athletes, they whole-heartedly plunged into their volunteer work. Their hard work, love and devotion have won the praise of the relevant organizations. Jinshan District volunteer organizing committee came especially to the SIA office to present a banner to commend SIA for its work during the Special Olympic Games. Pu Guyi and Zhu Longgen were commended as outstanding volunteers of Jinshan District and Gao Da was commended as an outstanding volunteer of Jiading District. Longhua Community sent a letter to SIA to thank Xu Hongming, Shi Guoan and others for their outstanding volunteer service. They have contributed to the unforgettable Special Olympic Games in Shanghai .
