On the morning of March 28, 2008, SIA held a meeting to present the Senior Translator Certificates of the Translation Association of China (TAC) and SIA's trophies to the 5 new senior translators Hua Junhao (Russian language), Luo Weiguo (English language), Tang Guowei (English language), Wu Zhengde (English language) and Xie Xianqiu (Japanese language). Sun Xiyuan, Executive Vice President, presided over the meeting. Sun said that this was not only an honor for the senior translators themselves, but also an honor for SIA. Sun Xiyuan and SIA Vice President Zhang Shukui presented them with the senior translator certificates of TAC and SIA's trophies. The 5 senior translators expressed their thanks to the SIA and TAC for giving them this honor and also for their care and help. The other meeting participants expressed their congratulations to the senior translators and hoped that they would pass their translation experience to the young people. SIA now has 26 senior translators.
