On the afternoon of January 15, 2008, SIA held a council meeting. 38 council members attended the meeting including Honorary Presidents Sun Zhu, Wang Yifang and Wang Yang, Executive Vic President Sun Xiyuan, Vice Presidents Xia Yongfang and Zhang Shukui. The meeting was presided over by Executive Vice President Sun Xiyuan.

    The meeting discussed and fully endorsed SIA ' s 2007 work report. The council members held that the SIA ' s language groups regularly carried out their academic activities and SIA ' s other activities also went smoothly. They especially commended the grand meeting held to celebrate the 20 th anniversary of the SIA ' s founding in April. 2007 and the volunteer translation service provided by SIA members for Special Olympic Games. SIA was commended as an outstanding volunteer organizer for Special Olympics in Shanghai and three members were appraised as outstanding volunteers at the district level.

    The council members hope that SIA should attract more young members to participate in its various activities.

    The council members also endorsed the work plan for 2008. SIA will actively carry out and enhance its various activities. SIA will make efforts to cooperate with TAC for the world translation congress. It will strive to provide translation service for the World Expo in 2010. Preparations should be made for the election of the new council at the end of 2008.
